Unite for Fairness
Ronn Dunn, Ian Gordon, Wendy Johnson and Mary Bazzana attended the Unite for Fairness Communicator Training Session on March 2, 2015. CUPE’s goal is to listen to our members, strengthen our union and improve our communications with our members.
BC Federation of Labour 2014 Convention
Ian Gordon, Wendy Johnson, Dick Beetlestone, Margaret Varga, Treena Harley, Duane Wheatley, Dave Tether, Allan Miller and Ronn Dunn all attended the 56th convention in Vancouver from November 24 to November 28, 2014. More delegates than ever attended, 2,200 who set policy and shaped the direction of BC’s labour movement.

Under Darcy Egeland’s initiative, and also using his own truck, he transported the CUPE trailer all 4 days during CUPE’s support tour. Black Mountain Elementary teachers thanked Darcy and all CUPE members for their continued support.
CUPE 3523 to each end of our school district
Oyama Elementary is a small school and situated off a main thorough fare. COTA members were thrilled that we thought about them and made a visit to deliver treats and our support and thanks for all they are doing. Fresh vegetables, fruit, coffee, muffins and donuts were given out as a small token of thanks.
First stop to support COTA was at Bankhead Elementary
Our trailer held vegetables from CUPE member Ken Bach’s own garden. COTA members greatly appreciated the offer of fresh vegetables.
CUPE 3523 travels with our Support trailer
On September 9, Ian Gordon, Darcy Egeland, Treena Harley and Don Heathcote started visiting all sites in School District No. 23 to deliver treats and show CUPE’s support to COTA members. It took 4 days to visit all sites. September 10 had Darcy Egeland, Allan Miller, Carol Davidson and Myrna Flaman deliver smiles and treats to Rutland and the Mission area. On September 11, Darcy Egeland, Treena Harley, Allan Miller and Carol Davidson started out in Peachland and completed West Kelowna. September 12, Darcy Egeland, Allan Miller, Ian Gordon and Myrna Flaman visited the central area in Kelowna.
Labour Day Picnic
Ian Gordon and Ronn Dunn prepared the BBQ for the 1st annual Labour Day Picnic held by the North Okanagan Labour Council. They fed almost 200 people and had a wonderful time at Bertram Creek Park.

While on holidays in Christina Lake, CUPE 3523 member Dorothy Hidlebaugh, walked the line with members in Christina Lake. True solidarity!

Wendy, Mark and Karsten were at the Naramata Centre on August 12, 2014 to support CUPE Local 608. CUPE 608 has been on strike since May 15, 2014.
